KINGBUSTER CAPTAINS’ MEETING

at Marine Max

1. Eligible Fish: King Mackerel only.

2. This is a ‘Heaviest Fish Only’ tournament.

3. For the general tournament on Saturday you may depart from Fernandina, Mayport or St Augustine inlets at 6AM.
Must check-out with tournament boat in the departing inlet.  May fish any time after visual checkout until 4:30pm on day of general tournament. Must be in line by boat or truck by 5:00 pm.

For the junior angler tournament on Sunday you may depart from Fernandina, Mayport or St Augustine inlets at 6:30am.

Must check-out with tournament boat in the departing inlet: may fish any time after visual checkout until 3:00 pm on day of the jr angler. Must be In line to weigh by boat or truck by 3:30pm

4. Tournament headquarters you may call 904-509-2939. We will monitor channel 68 only during weigh in hours.

5. No boats are to come together, unless an emergency exists. No boat may make landfall, or receive or pass anything to or from land, between

     6:30 am and 4 pm unless it is an emergency. The only exception is driving the fish directly from boat to weigh in.

6. All boats are responsible for getting their fish to the weigh station under their own power.

7. Weigh-in is at Morningstar Marina at Mayport

8. No fish under thirty (30) inches will be allowed for weigh-in.

9. All fish weighed-in become property of the Tournament.

10. Fish must be turned in on the day caught.

11. In the case of a tie in weight, the winner will be determined by the earliest weigh-in.

12. Mutilated fish will be accepted at the discretion of the weigh master & tournament committee. We will accept fish attacked by natural predators, with       large gaff marks, etc., but we reserve the right to refuse any fish that appears to have been tampered with in any way.    

13. If a protest is to be made, it must take place no later than 30 minutes after the last fish has been weighed for that day’s competition.

      Any protest must be accompanied by a $200.00 cash deposit, which will be returned if the protest is upheld by the Rules Committee.

14. Captains and their crew are responsible for following all local, state, and federal fishing and boating laws.

15. No refund of entry fees, unless the tournament is canceled.  In that case, entry fees will be returned in full.

16. All entrants are subject to a polygraph test to receive prize.

17. Only one prize per boat in the general tournament (with the exception of top Lady Angler and top 3 Single Engine).

18. The Tournament Committee, in conjunction with the U.S. Coast Guard, reserves the right to delay, cancel, or reschedule the tournament if

       a small craft advisory is posted or anticipated.

19. Jr. Angler Division – All general tournament rules of the King Buster, including those outlined below, apply to the Jr. Angler Competition.

20. You may fish the Junior angler if you have not had your 17th birthday by tournament day. The minimum age is 5. 

21. Jr. Anglers must strike and fight their fish to the gaff. Their hand must turn the reel, but assistance within reason is allowed. Jr. Anglers may weigh-in one fish per registered angler.

22. Captains must participate in the General Tournament to be able to fish the Junior Angler Tournament

24. All decisions by the Rules Committee are final.



Saturday – June 21 – at Morningstar Marina Mayport

Anglers may depart from Mayport or St Augustine by visual check out after 6:00AM. LINES OUT AT 4:30PM.

Weigh in at Morningstar Marina at Mayport from 2-5PM. You must be in the weigh-in line by 5PM to weigh fish. 

Sunday – June 22 – 

Anglers may depart from Mayport Fernandina or St Augustine by visual checkout after 6:30 AM.  LINES OUT AT 3PM.

Weigh in at Morningstar Marina at Mayport 12-3:30 PM.  You must be in the weigh in line by 3:30PM to weigh fish.

Sunday June 22- 7PM – Awards at Marine Max 

Weigh in procedures

You may drop off your fish with ONE person from your boat to bring fish to scales (on junior angler day only one adult with the kids) at the guidance of our volunteers to the eastern most dock, (the fuel dock) at Morningstar Marina. If coming by land, please contact tournament directors enroute.

After your angler has weighed in and received their weigh slip, you may pick them up at the Western most Morningstar dock.
